North Central Edmonton Family Resource Network (FRN) is a “HUB” location for parents and caregivers to receive extra support and learn new skills related to all things parenting.
Through the HUB, we have formal partnerships with several programs so we can provide the best quality support to families, funded by the Government of Alberta. Our “spoke” services include the Boys and Girls Club/Big Brothers Big Sisters, Creating Hope Society, KARA Family Resource Centre and the YMCA of Northern Alberta. All of our services are free of charge.

Boys and Girls Club/Big Brothers Big Sisters offer varied social connections and supports programs that aim to facilitate and promote a child and youth’s spiritual, emotional, physical, cognitive, social and emotional development to assist them in reaching their developmental potential. Their programs provide ‘brain-building’ opportunities for children and youth to build positive supportive relationships with their parents, peers and other adults and to learn executive functioning skills such as emotional self-regulation, decision-making and planning ahead.

Designed to foster interactive play and learning between parents and their children, Early Childhood Development programming reflects the ‘learning by doing’ philosophy. This is an important part of KARA Family Resource Centre. Parents will receive information on healthy child development, access to the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) and help identifying any potential developmental issues. You can also seek referrals to appropriate resources to address any concerns.
