Financial Assistance

The Y is a charity dedicated to strengthening our community. That means no one is turned away for the inability to pay! Apply online for financial assistance or ask about it at the YMCA Experience desk.

Accessing Financial Assistance

Families or individuals unable to pay the full fee for a YMCA membership, summer day camp (2 camps per year), school break camps (Winter/Spring break), and sessional YMCA Child and Youth programs are encouraged to apply for financial assistance. Total household income must be provided. Applicants are pre-approved if they are a verified recipient of:

  • Income support (IS)
  • Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)
  • Alberta Child Health Benefits (ACHB) - letter with expiry date required
  • Alberta Adult Health Benefits (AAHB) - letter with expiry date required

*Some exceptions may apply.

How it Works

To apply for financial assistance, you’ll need to provide supporting income documentation either online or in person. Once submitted, we’ll review your application and offer a subsidized membership or program rate based on your household income. The amount of support, how it will be used, and how long it will last are all determined during the application process. This is all made possible through generous donations from community members to the YMCA of Northern Alberta.
